BEFORE YOU GO TO COLLEGE

By

So you are on your way to college!!! That's great!!!  You have been blessed to succeed in high school and are now ready for the next forward step.  Or, are you ready?  I hope you are.  To help better prepare you, the following is presented:

A college education is very important.  It can prepare one to contribute much to God and society.  I highly recommend college.   However, here are some precautions that every prospective college student (and every current college student) should take:

1.  Understand that college is an institution of man.   Therefore, it is not perfect.

2.  Remember that whenever college teaches you ANYTHING that is contrary to the Word of God you are to believe God and reject the contrary misinformation taught by college.

3.  Remember that college can give you an education but it cannot give you a life.  Yes, the volume of true information gained can help enhance the quality of life but only God can give human life.

4.  Know that some colleges often teach wrong information.   Here are some examples:

A.  Some colleges will teach you that it is ok to have sex before becoming married.  That is an absolute lie.  It is fully against the Word of God.   Even if the college passes out materials and paraphernalia designed to help you have "safe" sex, the entire premise is wrong.   Having sex before marriage is wrong.  God says it is wrong.  Whatever God says is wrong is wrong.   Hear the word of God:

13  ... Now the body is not for fornication, but for the Lord; and the Lord for the body.
14  And God hath both raised up the Lord, and will also raise up us by his own power.
15  Know ye not that your bodies are the members of Christ? shall I then take the members of Christ, and make them the members of an harlot? God forbid.
16  What? know ye not that he which is joined to an harlot is one body? for two, saith he, shall be one flesh.
17  But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit.
18  Flee fornication.  Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body.
19  What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?
20  For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.  (1 Corinthians 6: 13-20) The Holy Bible

B.  Some colleges will teach you that the world resulted from the literal bouncing of interstellar dust.  In other words, they teach the "theory" that interstellar dust bounced around for millions or billions of years and eventually the physical world we see came into being.   That is fully contrary to God's Word and is not to be believed.   The Word of God says:

1  In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.  (Genesis 1:1) The Holy Bible

C.  Some colleges will teach you that man "evolved" from lower forms of animals.  This is generally known as the "theory of evolution".  The Word of God says,

26  And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.
27  So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.   (Genesis 1:26-27) The Holy Bible

It is clear then that man did not evolve from lower forms of animals but was indeed created fully human by the determinate actions of Almighty God.

You may be wondering, "Why would colleges teach error?"  That is a fair question.   The answer may be many-faceted.    However, the most simple reason is this:  Many of the people in charge of some colleges do not know God.  He who does not know God does not know Truth and will deviate into error.

Yes, go to college.   Enjoy college.  Succeed at college.  But, go, enjoy and succeed WITHIN the Will of God.  God will bless your life in ways of which you have never even dreamed.
